The twin rocks at Thimmappana betta is gaining popularity in recent days. Its proximity to Bengaluru, ease of reaching and the beautiful view are the key reasons for its fame. While people coming on four wheelers need to walk a minute or two, bikers need not even get down from their two wheelers!!

I knew about this place, but I was waiting for an opportunity to visit. We had finished our short hike of Yathiraja Swamy Betta, and we had some time to spare. Thimmappana Betta was just 20 minutes’ drive and we decided to visit the place.

The drive was uneventful. Just before the final climb, locals were collecting Rs 50 for cars and Rs 20 for two wheelers. The climb was easy and last 200 meters was on a narrow stretch. As we reached the top, we saw a temple, a viewpoint and a small parking area with bikes. We drove further up and found a parking area for cars.

It was just a minute walk from the parking lot to the viewing area. A small structure was constructed for people to sit and relax but the area was wide enough to see the twin rocks. Needless to say, the place was beautiful and the twin rocks look spectacular.

Thimmappana Betta is about 10 km from Ramanagara. While city dwellers go there to see twin rocks, locals visit the temple on the top. This place has a good potential to become a nice tourist spot but locals who are super enthusiastic to collect entry fees turn blind eye towards the garbage been thrown in the area.

When we visited on a weekend, there were many families visiting the temple and the viewpoint. Hence it looks safe. But not sure during early morning and post sunset.
