Sundi waterfalls, Belagavi

Sundi is a beautiful little waterfall near Belagavi which bears the name of the nearby village, Sundi. It has gained popularity in recent years due to its ease of reach. Naturally, this was our first place to visit when we were in Belagavi recently.

From Belagavi, we took the road towards Amboli. The outskirts of the town ended, and we had entered Maharashtra state. The deviation to Sundi was immediately after the border. The road narrowed, but its condition was better than the highway we had just crossed.

After passing through a few villages, we climbed up the Mahipalgada and then climbed down. The Vajinath temple at the entrance of fort hill seemed like a popular place, considering the number of devotees.

After going down the ghat road, we saw a few shops and vehicles on the roadside, indicating the presence of a tourist spot. We told “Dhabadhaba”, and people in the shop nodded in agreement. (Waterfall is called “Dhabadhaba” in Marathi).

We parked our vehicle on the roadside and walked in the fields. After a couple of minutes, we started hearing the sound of water. The steps laid haphazardly led us directly to the waterfall!!

It was a single-step waterfall which formed a small pool at the base. A local stream that flowed into a dam nearby. The waterfall had two cascades, but only one was dominant.

There was a small crowd at the base when we arrived, but they departed after some time, leaving the place exclusively for us. It was one of the benefits of travelling on a weekday!!

We spent some time enjoying the beauty of the place.
