Mudukuthore is a small village on the banks of Kaveri river. Situated very near to Talakad, it is famous for Mallikarjuna temple on top a hillock. While the temple is definitely an attraction for religious people, the stunning view of Kaveri river will make others very satisfied. The Kaveri river meanders through the plains before passing though the sands of Talakad. The name of the place is aptly kept as Mudukuthore – diversion + flow forward.
The hillock was very clearly visible from the main road. We had two options to reach the temple. We could park our car at the base and climb up the hillock on the well-constructed steps. The road continues further almost to the top of the hill. It was afternoon and we were not in a mood and walk and hence we drove till the top. A short climb and we were at the temple.
The place provides a nice view of Kaveri river and surrounding areas. Due to the cover of tress, we had to search for some good spots for unhindered views. There were very few pilgrims in the temple during our visit.
It was short but nice visit. You can easily visit this place when you go to Talakad.
